Brainspotting

Tina* was a survivor of sexual abuse. We worked together for months, and her life improved significantly, making her much happier. She faced the challenge of still being triggered by specific interactions and situations – throwing her into a fight, flight and freeze response in situations even though she didn’t need it.

I recently received training in a new technique called Brainspotting. Tina and I talked about her being one of the first of my clients to try it. The most fantastic thing happened within three sessions. Tina had a significant reduction in triggers, and her level of distress in all the situations became less intense.

After this experience with Tracy, I became hooked on Brainspotting. I have used this technique for over ten years now to help clients. It is effective and fast. Brainspotting provides exceptionally effective and quick treatment for Trauma, PTSD, and Anxiety.

Let’s look at a session of Brainspotting.

I like to describe Brainspotting (BSP) as focused mindfulness, which I call pulling out the big guns. Knowing you don’t have to re-tell your story for BSP to help is essential. Using fixed eye positions, BSP enables you to access your unprocessed trauma to help you release the trauma you feel.

Depending on what we are doing, we may use BSP for five minutes or potentially much of the session. It is a collaboration between us, and in that same vein, we may only need to do a few sessions or many over our work together.

Meeting online doesn’t interrupt how effective BSP is in helping people heal.

If you are having trouble reprocessing your trauma using standard therapeutic procedures, BSP may be what you need. Contact me, and we will discuss how Brainspotting can help you. Call (404) 259-1335 today.
